Item 7.01 Regulation FD Disclosure

On April 29, 2005, Great Lakes Chemical Corporation (the “Company”) issued a press release announcing that the required waiting period under the Hart-Scott-Rodino Antitrust Improvements Act of 1976 related to the Company’s proposed merger with Crompton Corporation has expired.
