Appointment of New Chief Investment Officer

On June 19, 2008, we appointed Barry D. Weiss, CFA as our Senior Vice President and Chief Investment Officer effective June 30, 2008. From 2000 to 2008, Mr. Weiss was employed by HarbourView Asset Management & Oppenheimer Funds Inc. where he served in various portfolio management roles most recently as its Vice President/Portfolio Manager, in charge of making investment decisions and setting portfolio strategy. Previously, he worked at Fitch IBCA, Inc., where he was an Associate Director in the Structured Finance Group. Prior to joining Fitch IBCA in 1996, Mr. Weiss spent eight years in the Office of the Mayor, Office of Management and Budget of the City of New York.

We previously announced that Luminent LLC, our affiliate, filed a Form S-4 registration statement with the Securities and Exchange Commission on March 28, 2008, as amended by Amendment No. 1 filed on June 10, 2008, with respect to our proposed conversion to a publically traded partnership.

Luminent LLC's Form S-4 registration statement contains a preliminary proxy statement/prospectus relating to our 2008 annual meeting of stockholders and other relevant documents in connection with the proposed restructuring. The definitive proxy statement/prospectus will be mailed to our stockholders when it becomes available.
