Item 8.01. OTHER EVENTS

On July 25, 2005, the SLM Student Loan Trust 1998-2 (the “Trust”) made its regular quarterly distribution of funds to holders of its Student Loan-Backed Notes and Certificates. Sallie Mae, Inc., as the administrator, distributed the Quarterly Servicing Report for the Trust dated as of July 25, 2005 to the Trust’s noteholders of record.
