First Trust Intermediate Duration Preferred & & Income Fund (the "Fund") is filing herewith a press release issued on October 20 24, ~~2021~~2022, as Exhibit 99.1. The press release was issued by First Trust Advisors L.P. to ~~announce~~report ~~the~~that ~~appointment~~on ofOctober ~~Denise~~26, M.2022, ~~Keefe~~Stonebridge asAdvisors aLLC, ~~Trustee~~investment ofsub-advisor for the Fund, ~~effective~~will ~~November~~release 1,an ~~2021~~update on the market and the Fund. Details regarding the ~~appointment~~update are contained in the press release included herein.

Ms. Keefe has also been appointed as a member of the Audit Committee, the Valuation Committee and the Nominating and Governance Committee for the Fund.

Ms. Keefe is not currently a party to any transaction with the Fund or First Trust Advisors L.P. that would require disclosure under Item 404(a) of Regulation S-K.
